- Readme.1st Welcome to ChecTrak 1.0
- >>> Program Description <<<
-
- A few things to cover before you dive into the program.
-
-
- System Requirements:
-
- 1. Hard Disk:
- To get started we reccomend 1 meg of hard drive space. The program
- with all docs etc occupies about 310k of disk space. Another 3-400k
- of space is required when the program swaps to disk for running DOS
- commands from within the program. Some files may be deleted, see
- below. Also, as your data files grow, they will require more room.
-
- The program can be run from a floppy, but is much more efficient
- from a hard disk. This will be discussed further.
-
- 2. Memory: ChecTrak 1.0 requires 400k of available memory to run
- correctly. 500k or better is strongly advised, to get optimum use
- from the program. A 640k system is strongly reccomended.
-
- 3. DOS Ver. ChecTrak 1.0 was originally designed with Dos 3.3, but
- should run well with any 3.x version. Runs under 4.0 and 5.0 also.
- I have never tested with versions earlier than 3.3, if you do run
- it under earlier versions, or if you have trouble with earlier
- versions, I'd like to know about it.
-
- 4. Video: Will run under MONO, CGA, EGA, VGA. ChecTrak 1.0 will
- automatically recognize the video. If you're running mono, you're
- gonna miss some of the great color benifits.
-
- 5. Printer: A printer is required for the Shareware version to obtain
- printed reports. The registered version allows printing to a file,
- for later printing.
-
- 6. Your Config.Sys file should containe the following:
- Files=30
- Buffers=20
- These are the suggested minimum for database programs. If you are
- using a Disk Cache you can lower the buffer statement.
- Higher figures for files & buffers use more system memory, but
- provide for better and faster program execution.
-
- To Install:
-
- Make a directory on your Hard drive ie: \CTRAK then place the
- CTRAK10.ZIP in that directory and unpack it, PKUZIP CTRAK10
- If you do not have a copy of PKUNZIP, you should be able to obtain
- it from the BBS where you downloaded the file.
-
- RRUN.EXE may be placed in another directory, that is in your
- PATH statement. But CT.COM needs to reside in the same
- directory as the program files.
-
- Once the program has been unzipped, you can view or print the
- documentation one of two ways.
-
- From the DOS prompt: type VIEWDOC to read the manual in a scrolling
- window. To print, enter either: copy CTRAK10.DOC prn - or -
- type CTRAK10.DOC>prn
-
- OR type CT to start ChecTrak 1.0, press F10 from the
- Main Menu. There will be choices to view and print the Manual
- from the Menu.
-
-
- Files Required:
-
- The following files ARE required to run ChecTrak 1.0.
-
- *.DAT The data files.
- *.K## #= a digit; the index files
- *.MEM The Memo files
- RRUN.EXE The Runtime Engine: May be in another directory
- thats listed in your PATH statement.
- CTRAK10S.RUN The Program Module
- CT.COM Runs the Program. Must be in Program Directory
-
-
- Files For Deletion:
-
- The following files can be deleted, we reccomend that you do not do
- so right away. Please read the manual before you do delete them.
-
- Readme.1st This file
- CTRAK10.DOC Program Manual
- CUSTOM.DOC How to get your program modified
- REGISTER.FRM Form for registering ChecTrak
- NEWSTART.COM This file should be run after you have familarized
- youreself with the program, and tried some entries.
- It will erase ALL supplied practice data/index &
- Memo files, ChecTrak will generate new/empty files
- on next startup, for your use.
- VIEWDOC.COM Autoview of the Program Manual
- PRNDOC.COM Prints Manual
- RPTSAMPL.### Sample Reports for Registered Version
- ###= .001 - .004
-
- Running From Floppy:
-
- ChecTrak 1.0 can be run from a floppy, 360k will work. You will
- need the files listed on the previous page under required files.
- Two things to remember, the data files you create along with the
- index files will reside on the same disk, in the same directory. As
- the required program files use up almost 200k, this leaves little
- room for data and index files. A 1.2 floppy would be best.
-
- While ChecTrak 1.0 is very easy to use, it is strongly
- reccomended that you read the manual, its only about 11 pages long,
- and it will make learning the program even easier.
-
- PLEASE NOTE:
-
- IF YOU OBTAINED THIS PROGRAM FROM A SHAREWARE DISK VENDOR, YOU
- HAVE "NOT" PAID THE REGISTRATION FEE DUE THE AUTHOR. YOU PAID A
- DISK COPYING AND SHIPPING FEE. THANK YOU!
-
-
- Thank You for Trying ChecTrak 1.0
